Parallel to the integration process of the program, our challenge was to understand the daily difficulties of people with Alzheimer's disease and to be able to create a space that offered quality of life, a place where they could feel at home. Under this pretext, the premises that have guided the design are the following: the use of natural light, controlling the incidence with different filters; the relation between outdoor and indoor spaces; the simplicity of circulations, thinking specifically about the user and trying to ease their day to day, warmth, a very important point if not the most important; flexibility and adaptability of the different spaces. In addition, the project is developed entirely in cross-laminated wood structure, providing a warmth to the space and contributing to sustainability. Project carried out as project director at GCA Architects.
